Writing Exercise #4 — Through Enemy Eyes

This week’s exercise comes from novelist and short story writer, Cynthia Rogerson, who is also our very own Programming Director. This will add depth to your characters, which will make your story more enticing to readers.

Writing Exercise #4 – Through Enemy Eyes

Write a paragraph or short story from the point of view of someone you do not currently like or respect. Have them encounter a problem like missing the bus or tripping and falling. The object is to view the world through their eyes. This will require you to put yourself in their shoes, even though you don’t agree with them. It could be a fictional character, like the villain in Sleeping Beauty, or a teacher or family member. Or it could be someone from the news who has done something horrible.

As always, the online forum is there to post your work and seek advice from your fellow writers, so join in the conversation.
