A Creativity and Care Residential
Are you care experienced and aged 14-30? Interested in poetry, nature and visual art?
Join us for FREE at Moniack Mhor (near Inverness) this Autumn, embarking on a charming project exploring the craft of poetry! You’ll be tutored during the week by Jen Hadfield, with an additional workshop from Luke Thompson:
Jen will guide you as you discover and respond to the beauty of the Highland landscape, with opportunities to experiment in different artforms…
Through writing exercises, discussion and exploration, you will work individually and collaboratively to refine your poetry skills. Time will also be spent with our partners at Abriachan Forest Trust to immerse yourself in, and take creative inspiration from, the natural world. Here, you can choose to expand your practice, with the opportunity to experiment artistically with words and foraged goods. Importantly, you will steer your own artistic direction with support from Jen.
The project will culminate in a published pamphlet of work, thanks to Luke at Guillemot Press. Luke will be delivering a 1-day workshop during the residential on the anatomy of the book and the pamphlet form; considering the materiality and sustainability of published works and the tensions and balances of book production, from paper choices to binding, print techniques to finishing, as well as introducing writers to some of the practical considerations of writing for the form.
