Moniack Mhor, Scotland’s Creative Writing Centre and the National Library of Scotland join in the screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s famous film adaptation of The 39 Steps, after which Andrew Martin will discuss the enduring appeal of John Buchan’s classic yarn of a man on the run, celebrating the genius of both author and director, 100 years on from the novel’s first publication.
Andrew Martin is Curator of Literature and the Arts at the National Library of Scotland. He is the author of Going to the Pictures: Scottish memories of cinema, and has been the co-curator of major exhibitions on Scottish theatre, cinema, and identity. He is researching film adaptations of Scottish novels.
