Session 2: Querying
You’ve got your book into a good shape: how do you now go about getting it published? In this second session of the week, literary agent Jenny Brown will lead the discussion around the next stage of your book: finding a home for it with the support of an agent. She will be joined by agents Caro Clarke, Louise Lamont and James Macdonald Lockhart.

About the Panel
Jenny Brown founded Jenny Brown Associates in 2002, and now represents fifty writers of literary fiction, narrative non-fiction and crime writing. She was formerly first Director of the Edinburgh International Book Festival and Head of Literature at the Scottish Arts Council. https://jennybrownassociates.com/
Caro Clarke is a literary agent at Portobello Literary. They were named Rights Professional of the Year at the British Book Awards in 2021 while working at Canongate Books. In 2019, they co-founded the Nan Shepherd Prize for under-represented nature writers. They are the Chair of the Association of Scottish Literary Agents. https://www.portobelloliterary.co.uk/
Louise Lamont was born in Glasgow and now lives in Edinburgh. After a couple of internships in film development, she moved into literary agenting in 2006, and joined LBA in 2013 with her list of award-winning authors and illustrators. https://lbabooks.com/agents/louise-lamont
James Macdonald Lockhart established the James Lockhart Agency in 2023 having previously worked for over 20 years as a literary agent with Antony Harwood Ltd. James represents a broad range of writing, including memoir, biography, geography, history, nature writing, science, travel and literary fiction. https://www.jameslockhartagency.com/
