Online Poetry Workshop
‘Nature’ is all around us, but what does this word mean to you? Is it part of a cherished memory of a favourite holiday in a far-off location? Or do you engage in nature daily, as part of your routine? Perhaps you experience nature on a walk through the park, along the coast, or in the forest? Join poet and nature-lover Nalini Paul in this two-hour online poetry workshop. You will engage in a range of inspiring writing exercises to get the ideas flowing, look at examples of nature poetry and find new ways of unlocking the ideas that might lie trapped within your mind, just waiting to spring onto the page (or screen).
Tutor
Nalini Paul’s poetry is inspired by walks in ‘wild’ landscapes, memory and belonging. Her first collection, Skirlags, was shortlisted for the Callum Macdonald Award in 2010 and her collection, The Raven’s Song (2015) is inspired by raven and crow myths from Orkney, Shetland and Canada. Nalini was George Mackay George Mackay Brown Writing Fellow in Orkney (2009–10), and has collaborated with visual and sound artists, musicians, dancers, archaeologists and the RSPB. She has taken part in international residencies and literature festivals in Finland, Kolkata and France (including the Robert Louis Stevenson Fellowship in Grez-sur-Loing); and her work has been translated into Finnish. Nalini has a PhD in Postcolonial Studies and works as a lecturer for The Glasgow School of Art. www.nalinipaul.com
