Early August Retreat – Week 1 of 2
Summer is upon us, and Moniack’s gardens and the fields around us are bursting with life. Bring this rich energy to your writing practice with dedicated writing time on this first of two August retreat weeks.
Retreats start on Monday evening with a welcome talk from staff at 6.30pm and an evening meal. After dinner, your group may decide to spend time together introducing yourselves and your writing interests. For the rest of the week you are free to plan your own day around the set mealtimes and your one evening cooking team slot at 4pm. Sometimes writers on retreat decide to share work with each other on the final night – this is entirely optional.
For anyone who would like to book onto Week 2 of 2 August retreats, you are welcome to stay on at Moniack Mhor for the weekend in between for an additional £50 fee. Food at the weekends will be provided on a help-yourself basis, with staff members on call if required. Please note you may need to vacate your room for one day at the weekend to allow access for cleaning.
Fees
The full fee for this untutored retreat is £500. This includes your accommodation in a single room with shared bathroom, all meals, hot drinks and snacks from Monday afternoon until Saturday morning. A limited number of en-suite rooms are available, which can be booked in advance for a £50 surcharge. We will also reserve an en-suite room for anyone who may need it due to a medical condition. This will be offered out as an upgrade nearer the course start date if it is not needed.
A small single room with a skylight is available at a discounted price of £475. Please note this room does not have an ordinary window, only a small skylight.
A deposit is required to secure your place, which is non-refundable after a 14-day cooling-off period. The balance payment of £350 is due six weeks before the course begins. Refunds are not always available – please read our Terms & Conditions for full details about our cancellation policy. Bursaries are always available, and you also have the option to pay in instalments. Access
Please let us know in your booking form if you have any access requirements, for example a ground floor bedroom and / or access to a step-free accessible shower room.
