Date/Time
Date(s) - Thu 1st Aug, 2024
2:00pm - 4:00pm
As part of Moniack Mhor’s 30th anniversary celebrations in 2023, we launched a series of online masterclasses taught by respected writers and tutors, many of whom have long histories with Moniack Mhor. Whether you’re new to writing, polishing your umpteenth draft, or simply want to try a taster of a different style, form, or genre, we’re confident you’ll enjoy and be inspired by these focused shorter sessions. All hosted by Moniack Mhor on Zoom Pro, usually with an opportunity to ask questions at the end. More of these to come during 2024 – we’ll keep you posted! Meanwhile, enjoy …
Embroidery
In this second 2-hour masterclass led by author Helen Oyeyemi, we’ll take some time to think about and work on ways in which supplying – or omitting – details affects the substance and flow of a narrative. Includes writing exercises and a short Q&A.
Helen’s first fiction masterclass on Tenses and Tension runs on 22 March 2024.
Tutor
Helen Oyeyemi’s books include What Is Not Yours Is Not Yours, Gingerbread, and the forthcoming Parasol Against the Axe. She’s a recipient of the Somerset Maugham Award and PEN’s Open Book Award, and her novel Peaces was shortlisted for the Goldsmiths Prize. (Author portrait by Mikoláš Bílek).
