The fields around Moniack Mhor are rich and golden with the fullness of summer now, ready for harvest. Join us this August to gather your own words and reap the writing magic.

Unfortunately, due to unavoidable circumstances we have had to take the decision to cancel the live event in Nairn this year.  The winner for the 2023 Highland Book Prize will be announced on Wednesday 4th September on the Highland Book Prize website. The good news is, that Nairn Book & Arts Festival have arranged for an enhanced author talk that same evening, with Highland Book Prize shortlisted author James Macdonald Lockhart to be interviewed by poet Peter Mackay, with music by clarsach player Cheyenne Brown.

In this one-hour online session delivered via Zoom, writer Helen Mort will read from her work and be in conversation with John Glenday, writer and tutor of Moniack in a Month: Poetry. Includes a short time for questions from our audience.

Are you care experienced and aged 14-30? Join Scottish author Jenni Fagan and Aotearoan poet essa may ranapiri for a workshop exploring different forms of creative writing, followed by the chance to ask them questions about their writing life.

Join Elizabeth Reeder online as you work on your long-form fiction or creative non-fiction project. This course offers an open, supportive, dedicated space for you to write a work-in-progress in the company of other writers, with Elizabeth building and holding a kind and supportive frame within which we can do our best work.   Includes craft sessions, writing spaces, group feedback, one-to-one tutorials and the chance to share your work with your group.
