Our Centre is located on a former croft in the Scottish Highlands. We are striving to make our buildings and grounds as accessible as possible within the challenges presented by our rural location and traditional buildings. Please contact us in advance of booking so we can help you decide if we are able to meet your individual access requirements. We can also provide more detailed information on distances, door widths, grounds access etc. We are also happy to discuss accommodation options for your carer or support worker where relevant. Assistance dogs are welcome.
Vehicular access from the main road is via an unsurfaced farm track (approximately 150m) which descends to the car parking area adjacent to the building.
Access to the main house is via a paved courtyard with a gently ramped push door to the kitchen and living room (workshop area). A ramp with a hand rail slopes from the back door to the grounds. Communal areas downstairs have hard floors and are fully accessible. There is a hearing loop in the living room. Also downstairs is a wheelchair-accessible wetroom/toilet, a second toilet with step-up shower cubicle, and two bedrooms (one single, one twin). All other bedrooms in the house are upstairs (no lift) along with two other shared bathrooms (one with bath and shower over, one with step-in shower cubicle).
The cottage is the original crofthouse, accessible via a packed hard-fine gravel path from the main house. The building design makes it unsuitable for wheelchair access. It includes a downstairs twin bedroom, with a toilet and step-up shower accessed from the adjoining lobby. Upstairs there are two en-suite bedrooms (one with a step-up shower, one with a bathtub/shower hose).
The Straw Bale Studio – known as the Hobbit House – is approximately 30 metres from the main building and accessible to motorised wheelchairs via a packed hard-fine gravel path, gently sloping in places. The building is off-grid and there are no toilet or WiFi facilities.
We can source selected portable mobility equipment items, and course materials in Braille if needed.

A welcome booklet in your room includes out of hours and other emergency contact information.
Our welcome talk will include emergency evacuation procedures. We can discuss any personal evacuation plans with you in advance and/or on arrival.
