Hollie McNish wins Ted Hughes Award.

Hollie McNish has been announced as winner of the Ted Hughes award for new work in poetry, for her poetic memoir Nobody Told Me. The award seeks to recognise excellence in poetry, highlighting outstanding contributions made by poets to our cultural life.

We’re proud to say that Hollie will be a tutor at our Performance Poetry retreat in September along with Lemn Sissay. But the connections to Moniack Mhor don’t end there…

The Ted Hughes prize was judged by award-winning poets Jo Bell, Bernard O’Donoghue and Mercury Prize-nominated singer-songwriter Kathryn Williams. Jo will be teaching a one day poetry course here at the end of April (sorry – it’s sold out!), and Kathryn was a tutor on our recent, highly successful songwriting course. You can read about her experiences at Moniack Mhor here.

And that’s not all. The £5,000 prize is donated by Carol Ann Duffy, who we’re proud to have as one of our patrons. And finally, Ted Hughes himself visited Moniack Mhor when it was being built.

Everything is connected…
