Playwright Douglas Maxwell will lead the Young Writers’ Café for young people in Inverness and surrounding areas in October.

Join Douglas for an introduction to playwriting.  An informal and fun guide to the various skills a writer needs to bring their work to life on the stage.

No need for experience, just bring along a playful mind and pen and paper! Drinks and snacks provided.

Please note, this workshop is free but but you do need to secure your place by booking below. By booking, you confirm that you are a young writer aged 14-24, and based in Scotland. For enquiries, contact youngwriters@moniackmhor.org.uk.

 

About the author

Douglas Maxwell has been one of Scotland’s top playwrights since his debut in 2000.  His recent work includes So Young (The Traverse, Edinburgh Fringe 2024), Orphans (National Theatre of Scotland) and Fatbaws (The National Theatre of Scotland and the BBC). Fatbaws, directed by and starring Peter Mullan, was screened on BBC Scotland, watched by over a million people and nominated for a Scottish BAFTA. Previous plays include The Sheriff of Kalamaki, Man’s Best Friend, Decky Does a Bronco, Mancub, Promises Promises (staged in New York as The Promise) and A Respectable Widow Takes to Vulgarity.
